MELTED POWER CONNECTOR

Melted 12VHPWR connector? We repair it.

The 12VHPWR (16-pin) connector carries a lot of power through a small plug. When it is not fully seated, or under sustained high load, the plastic housing can overheat and melt. It is most common on the RTX 4090 and 5090.

What the damage usually looks like

The plug or socket is melted or discoloured

The plastic housing has overheated, so the fix is a new connector fitted at board level.

What we do about it

  • Assess the connector under magnification before quoting.
  • Replace the 12VHPWR connector.
  • Test the card under full load before it ships back.

The damage stays in the connector itself in almost every case reported, so the repair is a connector replacement.
